Errors In Joan Rivers Death: Federal Health Inspectors Accuse Clinic That Treated Her Of Terrible Deficiencies

As weeks go by, reports of errors in Joan Rivers' surgery keep springing out: in the latest news regarding the case of the famous comedienne is that federal health inspectors discovered that the clinic that operated on her didn't went through the procedure in the right way.

It seems that, as many had thought before, the errors in Joan Rivers' surgery were the biggest cause of concern in the case that led to the death of the "Fashion Police" star.

According to Fox News, the state Department of Health released a report last Monday where they cited Yorkville Endoscopy's errors in Joan Rivers' procedure, which led to her demise a week later, when she died of brain damage due to lack of oxygen during the endoscopy performed in the clinic.

While the Department of Health didn't cite negligence as the cause of death, it was revealed that there were many errors in Joan Rivers' case on the part of the clinic.

According to CNN, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) didn't really cite the comedienne by name, but they did refer in the report to a female of 81 years old that had gone through an endoscopy in the clinic, in the same date as Rivers.

As far as the clinic goes, Yorkville Endoscopy stated that they'd be taking steps to correct the situation in their premises. The federal organization gave the clinic until January to improve the way things were being done in the place, as to avoid their losing accreditation for Medicare.

Among some of the errors in Joan Rivers' surgery were:

-       Inability to identify decreasing vital signs, therefore not intervening in a timely manner;

-       Inability to document the dose of the sedative administered during surgery;

-       Inability to get Rivers' consent for each procedure

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Joan's daughter Melissa was gathering evidence to hold a strong case against the clinic for the way her mother had been treated.
