Lebanon's Health minister Reveal Restaurants Serving Food Containing Sewage, Fecal Matter

Health Minister Wael Abu Faour from Beirut, Lebanese has announced the restaurants and establishments, as well as supermarkets, that serve food containing sewage and fecal matter.

Faour said in his speech that their nation is already burdened with terrorism and sectarian division and that they are facing both economic and social problems when he pressed that the food safety measures are also not being met. He added that it poses a potentially deadly risk to everyone in the country.

He said, "I regret saying that the Lebanese don't know what they're eating, and if they did it would be a great catastrophe."He also said that their food are covered with disease and microbes.

The restaurants he has announced are Abdel Rahman Hallab, Bedo, Fahed Supermarket, Hawa Chicken, Kababji, MacDonald's, Metro Supermarket, Roadster Diner, Spinneys, and TSC Mega.

He pressed that these stores has violated the food safety rules as it contains microbes that are to have a negative effect in the health of the Lebanese. He added that some of their foods tested positive for both Salmonella and E. Coli.

Also, a butcher shop identified as An-Natour Butcher Shop was found out to be using expired Brazilian meat. The shop has already been closed down due to the findings.

The revelations came after a 20-day campaign by the Health Ministry as they searched and examined 1,005 establishments in the country. Faour added that the samples they have taken from the establishments, which amounted to 3,600, has been sent to the Agriculture Ministry for testing.

He noted, "The samples were taken from various kinds of food including red meat, chicken, chicken derivatives, frozen fish, bread, kaak and desserts, as well dairy products."

Some establishments are said to be given warnings but others will immediately be closed down depending on the weight of their violations.
