Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne got divorced as the rumors say but Kroeger gave the clearest and witty answer.
The Nickelback lead man together with the rest of the band sat down in an interview with ET Canada to promote the band's upcoming "No Fixed Address" tour when he was asked to tell the real score in his marriage with Lavigne.
The barely new couple, Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne has been rumored to be splitting up since Lavigne's 30th birthday. Lavigne celebrated her birthday on September at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas looking gorgeous with a strapless gown accessorized with pearls and diamonds. But there were two distinctive things missing: her husband, Kroeger and the 17-carat emerald-cut wedding ring. The Nickelback singer did not even tweet her wife a happy birthday on Sept. 27.These details lit up the issue that the couple might have split up and got divorced.
Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne have been engaged in August 2012 and got married in the South of France on July 1, 2013. Adding to the stuff that spice up the split up rumors is the seemingly quiet social media activity of the two with Avril having not any tweet about Chad since May 31 and moreover, the anniversary tweet announcing the 17-carat ring gift was also deleted. These most likely confused the fans about the real deal in the two's relationship.
In an interview with ET Canada, Kroeger finally ended the rumors with a good sense of humor: "You know my dad calls me up and he's just like, 'I haven't slept in 2 days, what's going on?' I'm like, 'Dad you're not buying all this crap are you?' You know, I get to hear all the rumor mill stuff. I find it very amusing."
Clearly, the rumors remained plain rumors rightly so as Kroeger can be seen in the interview wearing his wedding ring. "When you get out of high school, and it's like, 'Ugh, okay.' All that rumor crap. All that stuff that people say behind each other's backs is minuscule, pales in comparison to the world of celebrity or being married to a celebrity," says Kroeger. "That's high school multiplied exponentially. It's ridiculous," he added.
Kroeger even joked about it and told to start a new rumor that "I'm pregnant". Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne's reps did not even bother explaining to the fans.
Kroeger can now go back to focus on his band's upcoming tour, "No Fixed Address" which will kick off in North America on Feb. 14, 2015 and continue with 61 more shows throughout U.S. and Canada.
Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne had one music collaboration writing and performing the song, "Let Me Go" in November 2013.
