Joran Van der Sloot's mother had previously stated that her son was sneaky going into casinos - and, now, her son has been stabbed to critical condition.
Fellow inmates at Peruvian have taken the fate of the main suspect of the murder of an American tourist in Aruba. According to The Daily Mail, Van der Sloot was stabbed repeatedly in the shoulder and waist by other prisoners of the facility he's currently in.
Just a month before the attack, Joran Van der Sloot's mother had visited her son at the Peruvian prison, and was concerned over the health of her son. He was in the middle of a hunger strike striving for better conditions, and inmates severely beat him over it.
Earlier this month, his wife Leidy Figueroa said that just after Joran Van der Sloot's mother Anita had gone down for a visit, other inmates beat him again, leaving the man in very poor condition.
According to the woman who became Van der Sloot's wife while he was already serving time, he was being attacked because inmates thought killing him would lead to their prison being closed, the maximum-security facility Challapalca in the northern area of Peru.
Back in 2010, Joran Van der Sloot's mother had confessed to the press - and particularly to ABC News - that her son, while not a difficult child per se, did have a tendency to sneak out from home to go to casinos in their native Aruba.
News of this terrible security breach comes not long after Van der Sloot issued a letter explaining the poor conditions he and other inmates were suffering in the prison, located in Puno, in the Peruvian Andes.
According to Fox News, in the letter he specifies that he and others were forced to get up in the middle of the night and that they are routinely beaten in the knees and testicles, for no apparent reason.
This entire ordeal was specified by his wife, acting on his behalf - however, people from the government have denied that he was beaten and all, saying it isn't the first time Figueroa has lied.
Currently, Van der Sloot is facing a 28-year conviction for murdering a Peruvian woman, and once he finishes his sentence, he is set to be extradited to the United States for charges regarding the Aruba incident. It is said that Joran Van der Sloot extorted the mother of the victim.
