Redmond: Bottle Bomb Exploded And Left One Bus Driver Injured, Two Schools Were Closed For The Day

Redmond, Bottle Bomb - An incident took place during the morning, including a chemical bomb made inside a soda bottle.

The event happened at 7:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the Emily Dickinson Elementary School, located in Redmond, Washington.

The bottle bomb was placed between two school buses. Apparently, two bus drivers were taking a break and they walked by the device, when it suddenly exploded and one of them ended with minor injuries in the hospital, KiroTV reported.

What the bottle bomb exactly had was acid. The Seattle Times went a little further and stated that it was dry ice and liquid inside a 2-liter pop bottle.

The sheriff's spokeswoman, Sgt. DB Gates, didn't specify the exact acid but she did share that the bottle bomb was probably made by teenage males as part of a "prank." She also mentioned that she didn't understand why they did it, but it was common.

The fact is that this "homemade" bottle bomb managed to orchestrate an entire movement that included officers all over the street and the school. Later on, the classes in the school were suspended as well.

And the superintendent from the Lake Washington School  District also sent a letter to the parents.

"Be aware of this situation. We have zero reason to believe than any more of these bottles would be on any other campus. The situation is a good reminder for all of us to be mindful of our surroundings and to report anything suspicious," part of the letter said.

The Evergreen Middle School was part of a lockdown earlier in the day, as the students were kept inside while the search took place. Then, the classes continued. The Emily Dickinson Elementary school was closed for the day.

Explorer Community School, which is nearby, cancelled classes for the day as well. A lot of precautions were taken due to a bottle bomb. Better to be safe than sorry.
