Mobille, Alabama Sex Ring - A unique case has unveiled where a terrible disappearance of a 19 year-old girl helps the authorities to uncover a sex ring within the family.
May 30, 2012 was the last time anyone saw Brittney Wood. That same day, she was getting together with Donnie Holland, her uncle.
Holland was already under investigation at the time and two days after this meeting, he died from a bullet, Associated Press noted. His death was also ruled as suicide.
After this event, even as tragic, not only did the search begin for Brittney Wood. Also, the investigation of the sex ring within Wood's family began.
Earlier this year, on July 31, Dustin Kent was the first member of the family who got charged, AL noted. But, which are the charges that most members of the family face?
The family, formed by the Woods and their cousins, among others, swapped their children and had sex with them. They were involved in group sex, orgies, and pornography.
"Donnie was the manager. He'd say, 'I've got this child and this adult, come on over," Mobile County Assistant District Attorney, Nicki Patterson, shared and ABC noted.
Apparently, this was how the "relationship" worked. One of the details that caused commotion and controversy was the fact that nobody can fathom: how could this go on for so long?
From the calculations that were done in the trials that began in August and still continue, the rape and sodomy towards the children and the sex ring that took place goes back to six years, at least.
So far, eight members of the Woods family have been charged and three family friends as well. This clearly states that the sex ring didn't extend merely to the family, but if it already involved three friends, how many more could there be?
"There are innocent people in this and there are guilty people in this. I don't know how the judicial system is going to figure it all out because they're not the sharpest tools in the shed," Chessie Wood, Brittney's mother, shared in an interview.
Chessie also denied committing any sort of crime, although she is charged with having sex with a young female relative. She didn't testify yet.
The exact number of children included in this sex ring isn't known yet, but apparently the quantity varies from 11 to 16 children so far, and as young as 3 or 4 years old when they began being molested.
Another big suspicion on the case is that Brittney Wood is dead by now; which is deeply lamented, not only for obvious reasons, but also because she would have been a "key witness" to unveil even more on the sex ring case in Mobile, Alabama.
