Pope Francis officially endorsed Evolution and Big Bang Theory addressing at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
He tells that believing in the two theories does not mean the role of God was not there. Pope Francis explained that both of the scientific theories were not incompatible with the existence of a creating. Even so, he tells that these theories require the acts of God.
"When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so," Pope Francis said.
The Pope's statements according to experts would end to the long-standing "pseudo theories" of creationism and intelligent design.
"He created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfillment," said Pope Francis.
For a long time, people believe that the Catholic Church is anti-science. It happened most remarkably during Galileo's time when he was asked to retract his "heretic" theory that the Earth revolved around the Sun.
Pope Francis' comments might have supported Pope Pius XII's progressive work allowing the idea that the theory of evolution and Big Bang theory are true. Pope John Paul II even went further in 1996 suggesting that the theory of evolution was "more than a hypothesis" and "effectively proven fan".
Another way of seeing it was presented by Pope Benedict XVI endorsing the idea that theory of evolution is supported by "intelligent design". This idea explains that the natural selection on its own is insufficient to complain the complexity of the world.
"No one could ever say of him that study and science made him and his love for God and his neighbour wither," Francis said in a translation by the Catholic News Service.
