Michael Schumacher's coma is a thing of the past, as the famous racer has been woken from the medically induced one he was in since last December. The athlete suffered a skiing accident in late 2013, leaving Michael Schumacher in coma ever since - but, according to his former doctor, the Ferrari and Mercedes racer could recover in three years.
Michael Schumacher's coma condition had the world concerned for almost an entire year, since suffered some serious head injuries in a skiing accident in France with his teenage son Mick.
Michael Schumacher's coma was something he technically woke up from back in June, according to The Independent, but it's still been a slow recovery since, because of the gravity of his head injuries. Earlier this month, Schumacher's son told French F1 commentator Jean-Louis Moncet that his father was slowly waking up from his medically induced coma, but it was going to be a slow process.
Michael Schumacher's coma recovery seems closer now, according to testimony from his former doctor in France. Jean-Francois Payen, a doctor at the Grenoble hospital in France where the racing star was first treated after his accident, visited his former patient in the new hospital to check how he and his family were progressing and now claims that the retired F1 World Champion will come to a full recovery in three years' time.
According to The Independent, Payen told the press that life following a head injury of the sort was punctuated by stages, and that his hypothesis was that Schumi, as he's known in the F1 scene, would probably recover in three years' time.
However, it's hard to say with this kind of injuries, since it depends on many different factors. However, it seems clear that Schumacher will not be racing again - he had retired a year before his accident - although he'll be able to lead a normal life outside of racing once he's fully recovered.
