Marlisa Punzalan: X Factor Ausrialia’s Youngest Winner

Marlisa Punzalan is X Factor Australia's 2014 winner and the youngest among all the singing competition's champions.

Marlisa Punzalan, 15 years old, has just been announced on Monday as the sole grand winner of X Factor Australia 2014

Punzalan, a daughter of two Filipino migrants in Australia, entered the competition as the youngest to ever join the competition. She turned 15 during the run of the show and concluded to be season's and the entire competition's youngest winner.

The teen champion bested two other contestants Brothers 3 and Dean Ray under the mentorship of judge, Ronan Keating, former Boyzone member.

Punzalan impressed X Factor Australia's judge from the beginning as she auditioned singing the Beatle's song, "Yesterday".

"That is the biggest voice I have ever heard for a 14-year-old," LMFAO's Redfoo, told after hearing her sing.

X Factor Australia's judge Ronan Keating was touched by her voice saying, "You moved me with that performance beyond anything I have seen on that stage in 5 years. It was incredible."

Punzalan's X Factor Australia journey was not at all a full smooth glide to the win. During the first few weeks mentor Keating expressed his worries for her being at such a young age compared to her competitors.

"The youngest contestant in the whole show. Fourteen years of age ...I am scared, really scared," Keating said during an interview.

The young singer was not deterred to win and kept on improving and amazing the judges and the crowd with each performance. Some of the most notable songs she performed in the contest are her renditions of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters", "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", "Girl on Fire" and her last song piece, "Titanium".
