Paralyzed man walks again after being bitten by a spider. In what is turning out to be something out of a Marvel Pictures movie, a 47 year old paralyzed man is now able to walk after being bitten by a recluse spider. David Blancarte lost the ability to move his legs when he was 27. The paralyzed man was a bike rider. He recalls the day he lost his legs. He was riding on Third Street on his motorcycle when a woman made a left turn in front of him. He recalls he hit the car and was thrown over it. H remembers falling on the pavement and couldn’t feel his legs after that. He has been paralyzed for the last twenty years. Recently, his children saw him for the first time walking. David has two twin daughters, each 13 years old. It was quite an emotional moment for the whole family. The former paralyzed man was recently bitten by a recluse spider that put him in hospital for five days. During the hospital medical check, a doctor zapped his legs and he remembers feeling the current move through him. He yelled out. David was told that his nerves, miraculously, were alive but asleep. He would be moving with his legs again. David’s legs were alive, so was his hope. When his leg braces finally arrived, David put them on and has been walking with them ever since. He can now do 250 feet in them. He can also go up a flight of stairs. “I can’t wait to start dancing,” he said. His social worker friends have nothing but praise for the former paralyzed man. “For someone who was only in his 20s when he became paraplegic, he retained a good attitude—always smiling,” social worker Cynthia Wilson said. “He has been given back his hope. Thanks to the strong will of ‘Mr. B’ and the drive of our rehab staff, we’ve all had the pleasure of witnessing a true miracle.”
