Grammy-nominated musician Jelly Roll is celebrating National Donut Day with Dunkin' and his own hoodie on Dunkin's website. In a promo video on Instagram, Jelly says, "Y'all know growing up donuts were truly my kryptonite," and also explains that he actually got his stage name due to his love for Dunkin's jelly donuts. "Everybody always asks me how I got the name Jelly Roll. Believe it or not, truth is, it's 'cause of these little guys right here," he says
How Did Jelly Roll Get His Name?
If you were thinking that Jelly's mama might have given him his name because of her own love for donuts, you'd be mistaken. Jelly, aka Mr. Roll, was born Jason Bradley DeFord, and of his mama, he says that she "used to tell me all the time that I was so sweet, I could open up my own Dunkin'."
Jelly Roll's Dunkin' Technique
The singer says he loves to dunk his donuts but advises that "you gotta be careful they don't turn into mush." Jelly loves Dunkin' so much that he's even invented a signature style to dunk his favorite donut in his coffee. Called the "Bunny Dunk" in honor of his wife, Bunny XO, he hops his donut across the table two times before landing it in his coffee. The other dunk called the Nash Smash, a "nod" to his "Nashville roots," ends with the pulverization of his donut and a pool of hot coffee on the table.
New Jelly Roll Merch At Dunkin'
The final piece of Jelly Roll's cool collab with Dunkin' is a hot pink hoodie emblazoned with "JELLY" written in white letters across the chest. The limited-edition sweatshirt is available alongside three other new items on the Dunkin' website, including a second hoodie that says "Grab me a glazed," and two concert-style donut t-shirts.
