Moreover, Stephanie Sarkis, a psychotherapist, explains that taking sour candy is not the only diversion that might help prevent panic attacks from occurring. She suggests that practicing mindfulness through activities such as deep breathing, creating, yoga, touching your thumb to each finger, and recognizing three things you can see, feel, and hear are beneficial.

Nevertheless, the psychotherapist observes that diversions lose their effectiveness as you become more accustomed to them, which is why it is beneficial to switch them up.

There is a correlation between excessive sugar consumption and a reduction in the quantity of a brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) protein. Anxiety and panic attacks can be alleviated with the help of BDNF. Consequently, a lack of BDNF can ultimately make anxiety worse throughout a more extended period.
