Chef decides to put his cooking skills to the test using hotel appliances to come up with delicious meals while on quarantine.

2020 has been chaotic for everyone, and that seems to be an understatement. In addition, being forced to stay at home and the constant isolation can make anybody do the strangest things. A 23-year old chef from Cornwall named Jago Randles did just that. According to the Independent, Randles was forced to undergo quarantine while in Canada.

The Chef and TikTok user stayed at Gec Granville Suites Hotel in Vancouver. During his quarantine days in the hotel, he decided to create a string of videos entitled "Isolation Cooking."

Over 62,000 followers watch Chef Randles' videos on creating elaborate meals. However, what amazes most of them were the fact that he used hotel appliances like the clothes iron and a Hamilton Beach Aroma coffee maker to cook the dishes.

According to Cornwall Live, even the celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay gave positive commentaries to Randles' video. He exclaimed that the dish looks decent and could be the best food I've seen in any hotel. Randle was able to cook Teriyaki salmon, kebabs, tacos, breaded chicken breast, crème brulee, and toasted sandwiches.

One hospital management employee stated that she would not recommend using iron for cooking since people do not know what other people do with irons while at a hotel. Randles started sharing the videos last November, and since that time, his TikTok account @jagocrandles garnered over 90,000 followers and around 2.6 million likes. In addition, the Isolation Cooking videos were viewed millions of times. Some of his most outrageous hotel room meals include the following:

Crème Brûlée with Caramelized Strawberries

Using a tiny whisk, Randles whips up the egg yolk, sugar, and cream in a disposable plastic container. He cooks this at the top of the coffee maker and lets the crème chill in the mini-fridge. He then caramelizes the strawberries in the coffee maker carafe atop the hot iron. Finally, he uses a tiny torch to scorch the top of the brûlée then garnishes it with caramelized strawberries and some chocolate.

Eggs Benedict

Randles starts by making the Hollandaise from scratch. He then cracks a couple of organic eggs into plastic wrap and cooks them in the coffee maker's boiling water.

While the eggs are cooking, Randles throws slices of meat onto a piece of bread and toasted on top of the steam iron. He assembles the final product on a paper plate and breaks the egg to let the yolk run over.

Salmon with Rice Vermicelli and Steamed Bok Choy

Randles starts this dish by sizzling the salmon on top of the clothes iron. He then tosses the raw bok choy into a punctured styrofoam container and inserts it into the coffee maker. Afterward, Randles boils water and pours it over a bowl of rice vermicelli. He dresses this with sauce and adds scrambled eggs he cooked using the iron. The result is a well-cooked fish plated on a bed of noodles.
