1. Burger
According to The Huffington Post, Americans eat nearly 50 billion burgers a year or about three burgers a week per person. After all, who can resist a mouth-watering, delicious and juicy patty in a fresh bun?
Almost every American restaurant's menu has its version of the best burger filled with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and different sauce types. You can also customize your toppings. Have some onions, mayonnaise, mustard, and relish. Instead of using a burger bun, Americans have also been using two slices of bread and a steak of ground beef to make hamburger sandwiches.

Crispy fried chicken has always been a favorite American food. Combining it with light and crispy waffles create this savory breakfast staple.
3. Hotdogs
An article in The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council estimated that Americans consume about 20 billion hotdogs per year. Hotdog is basically grilled or steamed sausage.
Garnish with ketchup, mayonnaise, onions, relish, mustard, cheese, and chili, or just about whatever spices you like to come up with a delicious tummy-filling meal.
4. Breakfast sausage
Perfect for a nourishing breakfast or a filling Sunday brunch, this American food uses dried sage as a key ingredient along with an assortment of other spices. Breakfast sausage goes well with onion, mustard, cabbage, apples, and tomatoes.
5. Mac and cheese
Baked creamy and cheesy mac and cheese baked is considered America's ultimate comfort food. It's best to use the right mix of different cheeses to get the tastiest macaroni and cheese. A shaving of Parmesan cheese will give make it more flavorful
6. Pancakes
Pancakes are simply thin, flat cakes, often round in shape and made from starch-based butter. When topped off with maple syrup, fruits, bacon, egg, and chocolate drippings, pancakes make an ultimately heartwarming meal.
7. Cronut
A cross between the crispiness of croissants and goodness of doughnuts, the cronut is one of the world's most sought-after snacks.
It is made with laminated dough, which Escoffier School of Culinary Arts describes as a distinctly flaky dough used mostly for croissants and other Danish pastries.
The laminated dough is proofed, then fried in grapeseed oil at a controlled heat. After frying, the pastry is then sugared, filled, and glazed.
8. Chocolate Chip Cookies
If you're craving cookies, bake a batch of chewy and crunchy butter cookies and add a hefty dose of chocolate, and you'll have satisfying comfort food for snacks or just about any time of the day.
9. S' mores
S' mores are roasted marshmallows and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker. It's probably the simplest to prepare of all desserts.
10. Cheesecake
This dessert is made of a buttery biscuit base topped with cream cheese and tons of condiments. Lavish it with fruits, whipped cream, nuts, or even chocolate syrup to bring a bright finish to your meal.
