Nestle’s Anti GMO Move: Nestle Switches To Simpler Ingredients For Ice – Cream

Last year Nestle had announced that it would be switching to natural ingredients, and now the food giant is taking a step ahead by eliminating not only artificial ingredients, but also high fructose corn syrup, and GMOs in an effort to make the ingredients simpler.

In order to help the consumers make better choices and also to offer them with high - quality products, Nestle Dreyer's Ice Cream will be bringing in the changes to six brands namely Edy's, Outshine, Häagen-Dazs, Skinny Cow, Nestle Drumstick and Nestle Ice Cream.

Moreover, Nestle has also promised to use fresh milk derived from cattle that have not been injected with growth hormones, along with the reduction of sugar by 11 percent in its products, according to The Daily Meal.

"Nestlé Dreyer's Ice Cream understands that consumers want to know what's in their food, where those ingredients come from and how the food products they purchase are made," said Robert Kilmer, president, Nestlé Dreyer's Ice Cream according to PR Newswire. "Using simpler ingredients that our consumers can recognize, and removing those that don't belong, is a natural next step for our brands."

In addition, Nestle has also mentioned that nine of Nestle's famous brand, Edy's slow churned flavors will be rebranded to Slow Churned Simple Recipes. The revised recipes will feature only seven or eight ingredients, a reduction from the previous twenty-two ingredients. Certain ingredients like xanthan gum and carrageenan will also be replaced with pectin.

"Our mission is to deliver the best product for the consumer," Michael Sharp said, lead research scientist of Nestle. "In the case of Simple Recipes, this meant maintaining the great taste and texture of an established and well-liked product with simpler ingredients that consumers understand."

The Slow Churned flavors of Nestle will reach the market by the end of 2017 while consumers can enjoy the specific flavors available presently.
