Ikea Introduces Hydroponic Garden: Grow Real Food In Your Own Portable Garden

City living has been the way of life for many. Small space can be very restrictive especially to those who wanted to own a garden. And just like how the Swedish Furniture brand, Ikea, solved the problem of small space living with their space-saving DIY furniture, they now offer a portable garden where people can grow real food.

Ikea recently released their KRYDDA/VÄXER hydroponic garden. It was scientifically designed to enable people to grow real food without the use of soil. The kit includes absorbent foam plugs used during the first stage of planting the seeds. Once the sprout is visible, the plants can then be transferred or replanted to the hydroponics kit using a small pot and pumice stones. The indoor garden includes a hydroponic system designed to store water and nourish the plant. A small light or a solar lamp installed within the frame acts as a "mini sun" so it can grow plants all year round.

"Hydroponic technology, which is used on a commercial scale to grow everything from fancy lettuce to marijuana, allows the grower to cultivate large amounts of food in small spaces with just light and water (no soil)," said Eater. The magazine also said this kit will allow people to grow vegetables and herbs right in their kitchens whether how small or how big it is.

Ikea wants every home to have their own hydroponic indoor garden so everyone can enjoy healthy and freshly prepared greens. This indoor gardening kit is sure to make it big just like Ikea's DIY furniture and their famous meatballs. This  Hydroponics Indoor Gardening kit will be available this April. A disclaimer, though, people who are going to buy the gardening set should be prepared to assemble this kit as well. It's still from Ikea after all.
