Kelsy Harmon posted a photo last March 17 showing her Grandpa eating a burger. It appeared that five of his grandchildren ditched Grandpa even though he lovingly prepared 12 burgers, two for each of them. The photo went viral after it was posted.
Kelsy's caption to the photo was "dinner with papaw tonight, he made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids and I'm the only one who showed. Love him". Then followed by a crying emoji. The photo tugged the hearts of people on the internet. It quickly went viral with 84,000 retweets and 140,000 favorites with just a day after it was posted.
Papaw or Kenneth Harmon from Oklahoma reassured the public saying that he is ok. Inside Edition tracked Papaw and asked him about it. Papaw said "there's a failure to communicate" and that some of his grandkids weren't fully informed about the dinner. The 66-year old also explained that he doesn't have any bad feelings towards his grandchildren.
One of Kelsy's cousins, Brock Harmon, was quick to defend himself. Fox News reported that Brock "decided to pay his grandfather a visit Thursday and even enjoyed one of his burgers. He posted a pic, assuring the Internet that his grandfather had forgiven him, and despite his new found fame, hopes younger people will visit their relatives."
Kelsy's other cousins also received a lot of comments online, for ditching Papaw. The Internet is bombarding them with tweets and comments for being too insensitive to Papaw. But Brock said their family is really close. To be fair, no one should really be judged based on just one photo and that people shouldn't believe everything they read on the Internet.
The popularity of the photo showed how compassionate people can be. People are sending love to Papaw through comments and tweets from all over the world.
Papaw assured everyone that he is fine. While Kelsy told People: "Family is the most important thing in my world and I'd never take advantage of them to gain followers and fame for a few days. Thank you so much to everyone who was once concerned. All the tweets and posts are truly appreciated. Papaw is great. Please know he is loved deeply, and now widely."
