The release of Mars Inc.'s Twix Spread had created a stir over the weekend. The beloved chocolate can now be enjoyed as a spread and it has already threatened to take the spotlight from Ferrero's Nutella.
Business Insider said the chocolate caramel spread topped with delicate crunchy biscuit are now available in ASDA stores for £2.00 ($2.90) for a 200g jar. Mars is expected to distribute Twix Spread all over the UK and possibly, the US.
According to Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats' General Manager, Michelle Frost, "Innovation is a key factor in maximising sales and driving growth within this category. Aside from the increased popularity of both Twix bar and the spread, it is expected to bring increased income for Mars once the spread is widely available.
Meanwhile fans are freaking about this new spread. Some say its about time they get to enjoy and spread their favorite chocolate. Over the years, other chocolate makers have released a spread version of their chocolates but none had come quite near to the popularity of Nutella spread. Some argue that Twix is about to change that.
Chocolate lovers in the UK were fortunate enough to get to try this new spread first and according to Metro, the spread tastes just like how it should "Twix spread is exactly how we'd always dreamed: smooth chocolate spread with hints of caramel and pieces of crunchy biscuit. It sounds glorious, and we'd quite like to put it on everything we eat."
Hundreds of Twix fan are also lining up to "rigorously" test and investigate the taste of the Twix spread. As if the taste and the name isn't enough to lure consumers to purchase it, Dasha Fayminova noted that the packaging, which is made to look like a pint of ice cream, also adds to the charm of the spread.
It sure seems like the taste is nothing short of divine. But be mindful of the calories as the sugar content of this spread in also undeniably high. Nevertheless, all seems to agree that Twix spread is the more acceptable way to enjoy chocolate any time of the day!
