Are You Willing to Take a Bite of the First Lab-Grown Meat Balls?

Welcome to the future because science can now produce meatballs from lab-enhanced beef cells.

Memphis Meats in San Francisco pioneered the growing and harvesting of scientifically-produced meatballs. They have recently unveiled the first lab-grown meatballs. They are using stem cell technology to develop beef cells so they can produce meat without the environmental effects of harvesting and kill animals like greenhouse gases.

Memphis called it "the meatballs that will change the world". Their company is known for an unconventional way of producing meats. Chief Executive Uma Valeti said, "We're combining decades of experience in both the culinary and scientific fields to farm real meat cells". The lab-grown meatballs debut can be seen from the video released by Memphis. The video shows how the meat was traditionally prepared using Italian style recipe and how it was cooked just like a normal meatball. And they said it taste just like a how a meatball should taste like.

The lab-grown meatballs are almost the same as the real deal. Valeti said "We watched how the meatball reacted in the pan, we heard the sizzle, we smelled the meat and it was exactly how you would expect a meatball to smell... This is the first time a meatball has ever been cooked with beef cells that didn't quite require a cow to be slaughtered"

Although proven possible, at this stage, the lab-grown meatballs are a bit too pricey to reproduce. Fox News said, "Now it costs about $18,000 to produce a pound of Memphis Meats beef - compared to about $4 for store-bought beef." That's why the company is now raising funds to further develop this technology.

Nevertheless, it is expected to be enjoyed by many in the years to come. And more people are counting on that including The Wall Street Journal who even said, soon sizzling steaks may soon be lab-grown.
