Are You a Loyal McDonald's Customer? You Might Get Free French Fries Soon!

It's not too bad to be committed to something, especially when it involves a lot of great French Fries waiting for you!

McDonald's is launching a reward-based scheme for frequent customers. It's legit. It's happening. It's not just one of our McNugget-fuelled fever dreams.

The details of the loyalty scheme are currently shrouded in secrecy and ~intrigue~, so no one (other than Ronald McDonald himself, we imagine) knows exactly how the program will work and what the rewards will be, reports Metro UK.

"We're working on a customer-designed loyalty program that we think will be as good as there is out there in the marketplace", McDonald's U.S. president said in UBS Global Consumer Conference this week.

According to Delish, the scheme will function through the recently launched McDonald's app, so there won't be any crumpled Caffe Nero style stamped cards in sight. And most importantly, the rewards will be food-themed - most likely with smaller items, such as fries or McFlurry's offered up for free after you visit a set number of times.

NRN reports that the scheme will be 'robust', and will pull data based on how often a customer visits the chain's restaurants every month, as well as what they usually order.

It was also suggested that customers would have a limited time to use the deals and freebies offered through the app, as a way to encourage customers to come back if they haven't indulged their golden arches cravings in a while.

No official confirmation on when exactly this magic will start rolling out, but rumors have popped up on the Internet suggest the scheme will start appearing within the McDonald's app by the end of this year or in early 2017.

The news comes after other chains like Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts have already gained traction with their own loyalty rewards program.
