McFlurry Stages Comeback in McDonald's UK Stores

McDonald's lovers in the United Kingdom, rejoice!

The fast food giant has announced that it will be bringing fan favorite Cadbury Crème Egg McFlurry back to UK stores this year, the Mirror U.K. reports.

After Brit fast food lovers issued a tweet storm after learning that Australia will be getting the Cadbury McFlurry, a spokeswoman for the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company calmed customers down, assuring them that the product will reach British shores this year at an undisclosed date.

"I can confirm that this will be making an appearance on the UK menu this year," she said. "However, we would like to keep exact dates under wraps and ask fans keep their eyes peeled!"

Described by the New Zealand Herald as having "broken up pieces of Cadbury chocolate and Crème Egg's gooey center" with "soft serve," Brits first had a taste of the fast food item after it was briefly offered as an Easter treat during the spring of 2009.

A Twitter account named Carmela Superfoods tweeted about the product launch with an image of the McFlurry, expressing excitement.

"#RT Aussies/British know the magnitude of this event - McDonald's launches Cadbury Crème Egg McFlurry #food," the user wrote.

The re-release of the Cadbury Crème Egg McFlurry was first announced worldwide through a McDonald's Australia press release for Australian stores. It will be available in the restaurants in the Land Down Under daily after 10:30 am for a limited run in time for the Easter holidays this spring.

The new offering of the chain, however, will not pass the standard amount of calories and sugar recommended by the World Health Organization as each serving contains 383 calories and 56 grams of sugar, more than double the WHO threshold, reports Time.

Cadbury Crème Egg is a product and trademark of Mondelez International Group.
