After Apple's "Bendgate," Samsung is hurdled with a contentious issue surrounding their next flagship device, Samsung Galaxy 4. This time, the Korean giant company faces the "Gapgate" issue- pertaining to the smartphone's unusual feature, a gap located between the bezel and the screen.
Unbox Therapy, the same group who released "Bendgate" video earlier came out with a new video indicating the Galaxy 4's design flaw. The Galaxy Note 4, an upcoming phablet offering from the reckoned company will be available in U.S. on Oct.17. The next generation phablet was already accessible in U.K, China and Korea while the rest of the countries will have a late October release date. But prior to its U.S debut, rumors spread out like fire when a video showing the wide gap on the smartphone was leaked.
Recently, reports revealed that there were some users and some news websites complaining about the design flaws of the $825 smartphone (without contract) pertaining to "gapgate." It is said that the gap is disturbing as one can insert a sheet of paper into the space located at the side of the metallic rim.
However, Samsung Electronics released a statement stating that the gap is not a physical damage, but a design that has been carried out from the previous smartphones. Samsung also released a 100-page product manual on its website detailing the explanations behind the design. It also includes "what-to-do" list before seeking any services. "The reported issue does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4. We assure our customers that all Galaxy Note 4 units meet our strict manufacturing and quality control standards," Samsung added.
The phablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, and running on Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 (SM-N910S), Adreno 420 (SM-N910S) GPU and Android v4.4.4 (KitKat) operating system. It features a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colors protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The 4th installment phablet has a built-in storage capacity of 32 GB and can be expanded up to 128 GB.
Samsung Galaxy 4 smartphones were sold out during its launch date although exhibiting what they call "gapgate," there's no proof that it really caused a problem on the phone's functionality or features.
