The popular pizza place, Papa John's, has improved efforts to serving pizza with clean and fresh ingredients by appointing a chief ingredients officer. The person assigned to that position is Sean Muldoon, former vice president of quality assurance and supply chain.
According to a report from Louisville Business First, the appointment of Muldoon for the said position proves "Papa John's continued efforts to deliver high-quality ingredients sourced from ethical, dedicated suppliers".
Steve Ritchie, the store's chief operating officer, said in a statement, "Under Sean's leadership we have developed the Gold Standard for ingredients, as well as one of the 'cleanest' pizza ingredient labels among top national pizza chains."
Although appointed to the new position, Muldoon is still in charge of research and development for the company. He joined the company on 1999 and has held various positions since then.
Papa John's is one of the few companies that strongly claim to use "better ingredients" than most pizza chains. Recently, the store has renewed efforts in that regard through a campaign, and the appointment of Muldoon is in line with said campaign. Other efforts include providing a free pizza to customers that were unsatisfied with their previous orders, discontinuing the use of artificial flavoring and colors, and getting rid of chicken raised with antibiotics.
Papa John's is the world's third largest pizza delivering company. Based on reports from amigobulls.com, this Louisville-based company earned $389.28 million dollars during the last quarter of the year alone. It has over 4,700 establishments (3,500 in the US and 1,200 among 37 countries, including UK, Portugal, and Ireland). It was founded by "Papa" John Schnattner in 1983. Papa John's has won best pizza in several cities, namely Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Dallas, Indianapolis, Orlando, Knoxville, and Phoenix, and was ranked number one in customer satisfaction by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
