As with anything, when you are planning to throw a party, you need to anticipate the number of people, and thus the amount of food. On an average, adults eat around 750 grams of food per meal. So, when you cook at home using the right proportion, make sure that it's 30% less than your average amount, and you will not have leftover food.

#2: Smaller Plates

Although it might seem like a farfetched idea to some, when you have smaller plates, you can also combad food waste. If the plate size is reduced by 9%, then the food wastage is reduced by 25%, according to a survey conducted in Denmark.

#3: Think Before Buying

When you are in the supermarket, and planning to buy a larger pack of food, make sure that you actually need it. Yes, it is good when you have a family gathering, however, if you live alone, or have a small family, don't go for the mega packs or the bulk discounts.

#4: Order the Right Portion

When you are in a cafeteria or restaurant, make sure that you know how much you will be able to eat. This way, you can ask the server about the portion size and order accordingly. Don't forget to ask them for a doggy bag if there are any leftovers, so you can take them home.
