McDonald's Japan Introduces Chocolate-Flavored Fries

Proving that chocolates go with everything, McDonald's is giving its classic Fries a sweet twist.

Dubbed as "McChoco Potato", this creation will be launched on January 26 for 330 Yen, or approximately $3USD, at the world's capital of food innovation - Japan, naturally. When asked if there's a possibility the chocolate covered fries could reach U. S. shores, a McDonald's spokesperson told Fortune, "As of now there are no plans."

The McChoco Potato will feature a drizzle of two kinds of chocolate sauces - "chocolate with cacao flavor and white milk chocolate".

McDonald's Japan is no stranger to food innovations. Their creations include the "chicken cheese burger," which is exactly what it says it is, and the "cream stew pie," a pie dough filled with potatoes, mushrooms, bacon, and onions that somewhat looks like Nestlé's Hot Pocket. For a while, they also had the Shaka Shaka, potato fries topped with cheese sauce or bacon. And of course, who could forget their Avocado-themed offerings, which included an avocado-topped prawn sandwich, a standard avocado embellished burger, an avocado muffin, and a veggie burger topped with - what else? - avocado. In England, the chain has also created a "premium range" line, called the Signature Collection, which featured the thickest ever patty sold by McDonald's.

This peculiar dish may be some kind of a Valentine's Day promotion for the fast food joint, as it is reported that McDonald's will stop selling them by mid- February. However if, for some reason, you are unable to fly to Japan by Valentine's Day, you can hack this McChoco Potato by dipping your fries in chocolate sauce. Or you can just keep dunking them in your chocolate milkshake, which is fine too.

As for this admittedly tempting meal's fat, sugar, or calorie content? Perhaps it's better not to know for now.
