The Newest Lay's Mystery Flavor Taste Test!

Unlike the previous years when Lay's have asked the public for their newest potato chip flavor suggestions (with the chosen idea to win $1 Million, this time, the company is offering 8 new potato chip variants and $1,000 for those who can guess what they are. In a tweet,  the company has been dropping clues in forms of emojis.

In the end, the consumers will decide which tater is tops.

The people from People were lucky to have received a package from the Potato Chip company giant and had the chance to taste what might be the newest flavoring of the world renowned chip brand.

The chips came in all-white bags, individually numbered 1 through eight. But, the catch was; half of the bags are old flavors, while the other half contains the new ones.

You really need a lot of imagination because who knows what Lay's is up to?

Bag number 1

"You know it's cheddar because it's orange," said one taster. The chips are also described as "kind of reminiscent of the package of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese."

The tasters think that the "signature dust" of sour cream is a give away to know that Bag Number 1 is an old flavor-in fact, it's the Cheddar & Sour Cream which everyone loves!

Bag Number 2

This one was debatable; "Ohh! That is a new flavor," said one tester, though another thought it "was familiar, like a yogurt!"

Two of the tasters bet it was bagels with cream cheese, while the rest thought of bacon because of it's meatiness. The verdict? Combine the cheese and the meat! They guessed Spaghetti Carbonara!

But, judging the emoji riddle by Lay's. "emoji riddle", they are considering that this one may be called Smoked Gouda.

Bag Number 3

Judging from the smell, one participant said it "smells like Play-Doh" but the appearance is more of like the "looks like Sour Cream & Onion," but the taste? Black Pepper! Chinese Take Out! Everyone seemed like they have been eating different chips, but when one exclaimed "It's a kettle chip!", everyone agreed! So the team's verdict was Bag Number 3 is an existing flavor and it's the Kettle Cooked Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper

Bag Number 4

This bag got not so good reviews; "I don't like that at all!" remarked one tester of this "disgusting" creation, which everybody reckoned they have tasted before but can't quite remember what.

"It tastes like a Ramen Noodles packet!" said one and just like a eureka moment, everybody agreed. They decided to label Bag Number 4 Ramen-or Ramen Seasoning. But considering the emoji riddle, the team considers that this bag might actually be Olive Oil and Rosemary, close enough right? Not.

Bag Number 5

The brightly colored pieces of chips seemed like a dead give away; what flavor would it be if it's colored orange? Everyone concluded it is Honey Barbeque, which is an existing offering from Lay's.

Bag Number 6

Everyone thought that this might be a prank from Lay's. The tasters honestly thought of "burnt steak" when eating the contents of Bag Number 6, commenting it tasted "overly charred". To simply put it, the team guessed the flavor is "Burnt Ends" and that was them being polite.

Bag Number 7

The team tagged this one as their favorite. The powdery-red color of the chips will instantly make you think of its flavor-very spicy. They also remarked that this one might have an Indian Influence to it, Chicken Tikka Masala, Perhaps? But in the end they agreed that this bag is an existing flavor, Flamin' Hot.

And finally, Bag Number 8

This one, a hard one. Everyone thinks of different things when tasting Bag Number 8. One said it "tasted like fish sauce", yet another one commented it reminded him/her of "horseradish," "wasabi" or "habanero" that gave him the "nasal spice".  Initially they thought "Kimchi!" but based on the emoji clues, they went back to Habanero-Fiery Habanero that is!

Sadly, Lay's will continue to mess with our taste buds and keep us guessing because they are not telling til the end of January. But, the good news is the game is still on! You can still guess what flavors they are cooking up for you through their Emoji Riddles in Twitter! There is a cash prize, mind you.
