Kate Walsh Fargo: The Actress’ Chops Didn’t Save Bad Judge From Awful Reviews

It seems that Kate Walsh's Fargo endeavor isn't the only thing the actress has going on this year, as she just released a new sitcom called Bad Judge ... however, as reviews come out, it seems that Kate Walsh's Fargo is by far the best thing she's had going on lately, as Bad Judge did horribly with critics after its release.

The new NBC comedy didn't lean at all on Kate Walsh's Fargo success - but according to Cinema Blend, perhaps the network and the producers should have. Actress Anne Heche is the show's creator, and Will Farrell and Adam McKay serve as its executive producers. In the sitcom, Kate Walsh's Fargo and Private Practice personas are left behind, as she plays a pot-loving judge who seems to be stuck in an age that's about half of her own: she shows up late for work thanks to a hangover, listens to music on huge earphones and wants everyone to think she's "in the now," as the website puts it.

Kate Walsh's Fargo success wasn't enough to pull the new show out of bad criticim, however. Boston Globe's critique of Bad Judge was entitled "Even Walsh's talents can't save 'Bad Judge'", which has been the general consensus amongst different fractions of the press, as reportedly Walsh, who is really known as a dramatic actress (especially after her long tenure in the role of Addison Montgomery, first in Grey's Anatomy and then on Private Practice), shines on the show even though the concept is flaky and the dialogues are mostly uninteresting.

Kate Walsh arrives in the new NBC show with great reviews like those mentioned above; Imagine Games Network and AV Club - but as universally loved as her performance was, there was the same degree of displeasure with the show itself.

In any case, for now only the only episode that has aired of Bad Judge is its pilot, and those are usually extreme examples of what the show is generally selling. So, perhaps things will go better for the new legal series!
