Not a Good Day for Chocolate Lovers: FDA Recalled Dove Chocolate Snowflakes for Suspected Fatal Allergic Reactions

It's always fun to have sweets during the holidays. Chocolate companies these days have their own way of spicing up their products to attract more consumers.

The famous Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes' holiday-themed bags made by Mars Chocolate North America was recalled after it was found out that they contain peanut, wheat, and egg ingredients that were not listed on the candy's information label.

The Food and Drug Administration FDA made a recall statement saying that about 6,700 cases of the said chocolate snowflakes may have pieces of other candy bars such as Snickers, Milky Way, and Twix, which has peanut, wheat and/or egg ingredients. However, the ingredients which were in the chocolate were not included in the list of ingredients on the chocolate's label and people with allergies may suffer life threatening allergic-reactions if they ever eat the chocolate.

The chocolate company was warned about the problem when a customer informed Mars that a Snicker chocolate bar was found in the Dove seasonal chocolates. Fortunately, no harmful effects have been reported until this time. The products have been on sale since September 19 at Walmart, which can be found in 35 states all across the U.S. The voluntary recall involves about 80,000 24-ounce bags that were sold only at Walmart stores.

Walmart spokesperson John Forrest Ales said that they were very shocked and have informed all out stores to start pulling out those products and immediately destroy them. We have also allowed customers to return the chocolates to the stores and get a full refund. They also said that it is Walmart's responsibility to provide their customers with a safe and quality foods.
