Candy House Chocolate Factory Triples Workers and Extends Time to Keep With the Humongous Amount of Holiday Orders

The holiday season is always the time of the year when we can cheat on the diet we painstakingly maintained for almost the entire year. We would always love to eat anything sweet, like chocolates, candy canes, and those delectable desserts we can casually make in the kitchen.

However, it is also at this time of the year when the Candy House is taking maximum orders, and requires all hands on deck. And the workers now have a 10-hour day, 5 days a week.

However, just like an episode in a TV show, the workers at the Candy House are working as quickly as they can. They are seen everywhere in the factory, packing boxes with a pound of every kind of chocolate we can ever imagine. That's like thousands of trays every single day. After packing, the boxes are either shipped to meet orders of 200 o 450 boxes or wrapped and put on stores for display.

According to Terry Hicklin, owner of the Candy House, 510 Kentucky Ave, the factory normally has about 13 or 14 people working, but during this time of the year, the workers usually triple in number. There are so many boxes to be shipped as well as the number of boxes with chocolates to be put on display.

Every holiday season at the Candy House is special, but this year has been different. Hicklin said that the weather has been warmer for the last weeks and people have not been feeling the Christmas spirit at all. Now that the weather is cooperating, people are rushing to get caught up on the holiday cheers, and so they, the workers of the factory, have been humping to keep up with them.

The Candy House makes more than 200 kinds of candies, from tiger fudge to divinity. "Our best seller is English toffee, followed by our turtles, but we've been selling a lot of sea-salt caramels. We can't keep enough of them in stock," he said.

After filling its corporate orders, the Candy House is now focusing on the final retail push and the creation of last-minute party trays.
