Ridley Scott's sci-fi/ horror cult classic "Alien" returns with the new movie "Aliens: Covenant." The said Aliens spinoff is sequel to 2012's box office sci-fi film "Prometheus." Sci-fi fans are raving about the new characters and actors who will possibly star the new sci-fi flick. The movie which is about to start production has already found its lead- actress Katherine Waterston.
The 35-year-old American actress who received critical acclaims on her performance in last year's Inherent Vice alongside actor Joaquin Phoenix, was chosen to play the lead character named Daniels in Scott's newest sci-fi feature. The actress also will star in J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" movie adaptation alongside award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne in 2016.
During Scott's The Martian press talks, he revealed that Alien: Covenant is slated to begin filming sometime early in 2016.
Though details of Covenant's plot has not yet been revealed, the story, according to Cinema Blend reportedly follows a crew of scientists in a colony ship called the Covenant, bound for a remote world. The ship comes across an uncharted planet they first believed is a paradise in space, until things turned bizarre. It turns out that the only inhabitant of what turns out to be a dangerous place is David (Michael Fassbender), the android who escaped in space with Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) at the end of Prometheus.
Alien: Covenant is the first of the new trilogy of films that will link together the events of Prometheus and Scott's 1979 sci-fi classic Alien. Scott also mentioned that the film will feature a number of different versions of the Xenomorph which fans of the classic Alien film will find really exciting and promising.
Scott's Aliens: Covenant is set to premiere in theatres on October 6, 2017.
