Film distribution giant Universal Pictures has engaged in a multi-year film deal with Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks Studios, with Amblin Partners, Reliance Entertainment, Participant Media, and Entertainment One to distribute their features, Universal announces Wednesday.
Universal executives Jeff Shell and Donna Langley said they are pleased to be back in business with Spielberg.
"His iconic films have stood the test of time and are embraced by audiences around the world. We look forward to working with Steven and Amblin Partners as we build on 2015's record-breaking year," Shell and Langley said in a report by EW.
Another news they mentioned is the partnership's adaptation of the New York Times bestseller The Girl on the Train for the silver screen. The said film will include performances by Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, and among others.
Universal and Focus Features will handle distribution and marketing already set for about four to seven Amblin Partners films each year.
According to NBCUniversal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer, Universal is and has always been Spielberg's home. He also added that this engagement has been truly rewarding for his personal professional relationship and that they are proud to continue working with the veteran director for the quality films he produces.
Universal Pictures studio has recorded 2015 as their highest grossing year ever with $5.53 billion. With the recent big announcement made by the studio, it seems that 2016 will top it off.
