In the cut-throat competition for smartphone users, it has become a trend to clone each others' features. As such, Samsung Galaxy S7 is rumoured to include a 3D touch-like pressure-sensitive display following Apple and Huawei.
CNET reports that Galaxy S7 will have features designed to win back its market. Galaxy S7 will have a pressure sensitive display when it launches next spring. It may also include a new high-speed charging port, a higher-quality camera and retina scanner in some of its models.
The new charging port will support delivering a full day's charge in less than 30 minutes, even faster than the current fast-charging feature offered by Galaxy S6. The other possible addition is the retina scanner and the return of an external memory card slot, however, this won't be available in the S7 Edge as Techcrunch reports. An improved camera optimized in low light photography is set to be included as well. Rather than creating a bulge at the back of the phone, the camera's hardware has a smooth surface.
After this year's failed attempt to capture market's interest with the launching of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy7 needs to make up with the declining sales of Samsung's smartphones. The company has been affected both ways by affordable China-made smartphones on the low end and Apple's iPhone on the high end.
The main challenge for Samsung is to create a smartphone with enticing features yet keep the price competitive.
The same with the Galaxy S6 lineup, the new design will come into two variants: a Galaxy S7 with a standard display and a Galaxy S7 Edge with a curved display on both sides. These two designs are expected to be announced at the Mobile World Congress next year in February. By the middle of March, users in the United States may get their hands on them as Wall Street Journal sources state.
The pressure-sensitive screen hopes to match the 3D Touch feature in Apple's iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
