LG G5 Release Date, Specs, Features & Rumors: Metallic Phone To Arrive In February?

The LG G5 is expected to go for a February launch as opposed to the traditional Q2 launches that the South Korean company has had in the past for its flagship devices.

Because of this, more and more rumors have popped up, with a new LG G5 leak claiming better features for the new model unseen in the G4.

According to Pocket-lint.com, the LG G5 leak comes from Weibo tipster "Zealer." Perhaps the reason why the leak's veracity isn't being questioned is the fact that the tipster deleted the post as soon as it was released. However, this isn't before several websites have already reported on the new leaked LG G5 specs and features.

In addition, the updates seem plausible as it's likely that the Samsung competitor would likely want a better model because of poor mobile sales from the G4.

Four highlights of this new LG G5 rumor include the following:

  • Metal Frame

The new rumor claims that the LG G5 will sport a metal unibody as opposed to the optional leather back.

  • Iris scanning tech

The LG G5 will reportedly have biometric security. One is a fingerprint sensor not in the G3 and G4, but recently included the V10. The other is a Lumia-style iris scanner for added security.

  • QHD display at 5.6-inch with 21 MP Camera

The LG G5 camera is expected to be a 21-megapixel rear snapper that will go along with an 8-megapixel front one. This could mean that the company will use Sony's sensor famously utilized in several smartphones with high camera pixels.

As noted by GSM Arena, if this rumor is true, it would be a great upgrade from the G4's 16MP rear camera.

  • February Release

It appears that the LG G5 release date will be earlier than usual and will be ahead of the Galaxy S7's rumored release. This means that the South Korean giant is confident enough to put the smartphone head-to-head with its competitor.

Other LG G5 features previously rumored include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset, at least 3GB of RAM and a 5.6-inch screen while retaining its QHD resolution.
