Sweet Leaf Tea 1.5 Million Bottles Recalled Because of Glass Fragments

There are those days that water tastes plain and soda is just too strong. You want something that has a distinct flavor, but not too overpowering. You choose the first bottle you can think of and it turns out to be a Sweet Leaf Tea drink.

That is great, but just be wary of this preference. It appears that the company who made this awesome drink announced a product recall.

The Sweet Leaf Tea Company, which is owned by Nestlé Waters North America, declared that 1.5 million bottles are to be recalled. It was discovered that there were fragments of glass floating inside the bottled drinks, Time reports.

The company, which originated in Texas, issued a warning to customers after receiving four complaints from consumers stating that there were glass particles inside the drink. This may be due to the glass breaking during the filling process, the company said in a released statement. Fortunately, these consumers were not harmed.

Sweet Leaf wants to let consumers know that affected bottles were those distributed between February 27 and December 6, 2015. It also includes six flavors of teas: raspberry, half and half lemonade tea, original, green tea with citrus, peach and mint and honey. The recall only affects the manufactured glass bottles. CNN says that products of Sweet Leaf in plastic bottles are not involved.

The list of affected products can be seen in the company's statement here. Consumers can take a look at the list and they will be able to determine if their tea is included in the recalled products by checking the manufacturing date and best by date.

The company is doing their best to manage this. They are removing the affected bottles from stores. They are encouraging consumers to contact the company or return the bottles to stores for a refund. The consumers can call the company at 1-877-832-5323.
