Madonna Promotes Peace Via Impromptu Tribute Concert For Paris Attack Victims

Madonna recently had a concert at the AccorHotels Arena and she invited her fans to come and be with her as she pays tribute to the victims of the gruesome terrorist attack last November 13. She performed in the Place de la Republique, the memorial site for the victims of the said attack. Madonna sang "songs for peace" with her son David and her guitarist Monte Pittman. On her Twitter account, Madonna wrote: ''Im singing some songs in place de la republique. Meet me there now #Paris . #rightnow #aftershow #rebelheartour (sic).''

Included in her concert repertoire were a songs she has immortalized such as 'Like A Prayer' She also performed cover of songs from other well know music artists including 'Imagine' by Beatles songwriter and performer John Lennon.

According The Guardian Madonna told onlookers: "Everybody knows why we're here ... we just want to sing a few songs about peace, just to spread love and joy, and to pay our honour and respect to the people who died almost four weeks ago.

"And to spread light ... we all need it."

She addressed her fans saying: "We will not bend down to fear! I think of what happened almost four weeks ago now. The heart of Paris and the heart of France beats in the heart of each city.

"I came here when I was 20 and it was here, in Paris, that I decided to make music. Thank you Paris for planting that seed in my heart!"

The 57 year-old icon Madonna was joined by a multitude of fans at the impromptu concert and she concluded her performance shouting the word "peace" while blowing kisses at them.

Madonna admittedly said that she was "torn" in her decision to continue her 'Rebel Heart ' tour in Europe after the terrorist attack where in 130 people died in Paris last month.

She said: ''I feel torn, like why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones? However, that is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up. They want to silence us. And we won't let them.'
