'Trumbo' Leads Even Field at SAG Award Nominations

The first big round of Award season nominations are in with Trumbo leading a balanced field at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Director Jay Roach's biopic about the life of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo bagged three nominations, the most of any film in contention. The film's leading man, former Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, scored a best actor nod in an extremely crowded field. His co-star, Helen Mirren, was also recognized in the supporting actress category. The pair, together with the rest of the cast, was also nominated for The Best Ensemble award, the SAG's highest honor.

Following Trumbo were "Spotlight," "The Big Short" and "Beasts of No Nation" with two nominations apiece. The nods in the film awards are as follows:

In the best actress field, comedian Sarah Silverman was the unexpected name, beating out more high profile picks like Jennifer Lawrence in Joy.
