4,000 Dolls for Violence - Seized in Israel

A report from NBC News states that 4,000 dolls were held in Tel Aviv, Israel. The dolls look like stone-throwing youths. Israeli officials said last Wednesday that the containers were on their way into Palestinian-controlled areas.

The 10-inch dolls were put into two containers and the toys were originally from the United Arab Emirates. Doron Samara, the Head of Enforcement for Haifa Customs told NBC News that these shipments were noticed on Tuesday.

It is noticeable that the Arab keffiyeh scarfs conceals the faces of the toys which also show the Palestinian flags. The Dome of the Rock can be seen with an Arabic caption, "Jerusalem is ours" and "Jerusalem, we are coming."

For Palestinians, young Arab stone-throwers are a great symbol of resistance against the Israeli occupation.

The granting of access to the Dome or Temple Mount, in Jerusalem has sparked outrage between Palestinians and Israelis. Two months have passed and there have been brutal violence and demonstrations because of this continuing feud.

Palestinian attacks have caused 22 Israeli deaths and 215 were left wounded. At least 110 Palestinians were killed and about 4,800 were wounded.

Samara explained, "The containers were supposed to contain plastic objects, carpets and other household goods but instead we found boxes with dolls inside them."

The officer also added, "This shipment was intended to reach the Palestinian Authority, and we see these dolls as incitement objects which are forbidden to be imported into Israel."

The Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has held Palestinian incitement accountable for this last act of violence.

Samara continued, "We tend to see a correlation between the amount of incitement material being smuggled and the security situation. I can testify that in the last few months there is an increase of attempts to smuggle ISIS insignia objects like rings and ISIS publicity material."
