It looks like another film is attaching its highly anticipated trailer to the release of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens!'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer for 'Star Trek Beyond' will make its debut along with the premiere of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.' The trailer will be released alongside the never-before-seen teasers for 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and 'Independence Day: Resurgence.'
DC and Marvel will also be going up against each other as the trailers for 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and 'Captain America: Civil War' get their theatrical release.
Disney may also take advantage of the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' premiere by releasing the trailers for 'The Jungle Book' and 'Finding Dory' along with the film.
The fantasy adventure film 'The Huntsman: Winter's War' starring Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth has also grabbed a coveted slot to have its trailer released together with 'Episode VII.'
Although it may sound strange to have pop culture rivals like 'Star Trek' and 'Star Wars' working together to promote each other, there is a common denominator: J.J. Abrams. The director of 'The Force Awakens' also happens to be the producer of 'Star Trek Beyond' and has helmed the first two films of the reboot.
The storyline for 'Star Trek Beyond' may be as mysterious as 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' although director Justin Lin has previously confirmed that it will follow the crew of the Enterprise as they go on their five-year mission for new explorations.
"They haven't really gone on their five-year mission, so what we experienced in the TV show hasn't been touched on yet," Lin said. "That sets up an opportunity for exploration and the deeper you go, the more you are examining humanity. Those are the things that I absorbed as a kid and hope to tap into and embrace and celebrate."
Catch the trailer for 'Star Trek Beyond' as it debuts on the premiere of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' on December 18.
