According to Indian Express, it is known that there is a huge surge in the number of people using dating apps during festival seasons. According to a dating app company, Woo, younger people seems to search for love during happy or festive seasons.
Sumesh Menon, Chief Executive of Woo said, "Woo experienced three times the number of regular sign-ups and two times the number of regular match-making on its app during the holiday period last festive season". During this season, there was an estimated 1.7 million downloads and a recorder 17,000 matches every day. According to a tech expert, these numbers were staggered because it usually takes months to match the number of people who registered during the festive season holiday.

Menon added that the reason behind the surge of registrants was from the feedback collected from users. While collecting this data, they found that the festive mood plays a vital role in finding people their one true love. Not only that, it was also found that because of the holidays most people also has time off work and can spend time using the app. He added that, "Though people connect and fall in love all year round, we have noticed a slight 'seasonality' in the 'search for love'. For two years now, we have noticed that the app's activity in terms of downloads increases just around the festive season and continues all the way till February, when Valentine's Day brings the topic of love to top of mind." Most of the users said that they enjoyed searching for love online because they think it's convenient to just use technology to find the perfect match for you.
