Coldplay's Chris Martin Gushes About One Direction On Ellen [WATCH]

Just in time for the release of their seventh album A Head Full of Dreams, Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin and lead-guitarist Jonny Buckland appeared on Ellen to profess their love for One Direction.

Entertainment Tonight reports that when DeGeneres hailed Coldplay as the biggest group in the world, the band members joked that she had mistaken them as One Direction.

That's when they cleared up that they were actually Directioners.

"I'm a big fan of Harry's," Martin told Ellen. "He's lovely."

Martin is such a fan of Harry Styles that he even mentioned about planning to be business partners with him. "I wanted to open a barbershop with him called Hairy Styles, but he wouldn't," he cracked. "He doesn't call me back."

"We love those guys," he added.

Listening to his jokes, DeGeneres noticed that the 38-year-old rock star appeared happy following his "conscious uncoupling" with wife of 12 years, Gwyneth Paltrow.

"I'm just so happy to be here. Here and here in a wider sense," Martin said.

"You have gone through a lot and it seems like you're just in a better place," DeGeneres told the singer. "How did you move through some of the tough times?"

"I don't think it's going through a lot in terms of on the world scale," he replied. "I think if you're lucky enough to be in a band with your best friends and you look at the world in the right way, than you understand that everything that's happening to you can be alchemized. Which is an English word."

Martin has been clearly outspoken about feeling grateful and alive.

"That may sound a little simple but I suddenly feel very grateful," he told the radio hosts at Australia's 2DayFM's Rove and Sam show, who also noticed his positive vibe. "If it's coming across then that's great to hear."
