Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman Husband, Father, Robert Urban, Has Died: "He Is Finally at Peace"

Just a few days after country star Keith Urban revealed that his father, Robert Urban, had been placed in hospice care, the Australian-born singer announced that his father had died on Saturday, December 5, after a long battle with cancer.

"I've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nic and I, and our family, have received since my Dad's passing on Saturday night," Keith shared a statement to E! News. "His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace."

The 48-year-old, country singer added, "My Dad's love of country music and America set me on my life's journey, and shaped so much of who I am today. Thank you to everyone who has kept us all in your thoughts and prayers."

The American Idol judge revealed at the opening of his new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame on Wednesday, December 2, that his father had been placed in hospice care.

Keith also shared a story about his father buying a Don Williams album without even knowing any of the songs on the record just because he knew it would be good.

Urban credits a huge part of his career to his father, who used to sew his stage outfits for him when he was still trying to make it in the music industry.

He shared that his father thought it was important that he "dressed like a performer," and remembered that it was his father who inspired him to live his dreams as a singer.

In February, the star posted a picture of him and his father and paid tribute to what the man had done for him.

Keith has the full support of his wife, Nicole Kidman, who lost her father, Dr. Anthony Kidman, after suffering a fall at a Singapore Hotel last year.
