Could 'Creed' Director Ryan Coogler Direct 'Black Panther' Solo Film?

It sure sounds like Marvel has found the perfect director to take on the 'Black Panther' standalone film!

According to Birth Death Movies, 'Creed' director Ryan Coogler is currently in negotiations to helm the upcoming Marvel flick which follows the life of the black superhero. If a deal is made, the promising young filmmaker could be working with Chadwick Boseman, who will play T'Challa in 'Black Panther.'

There have been several speculations about who could direct 'Black Panther.' It was previously reported that Ava DuVernay would helm the film, although the 'Selma' director denied any involvement in the project. In October, Marvel was allegedly eyeing F. Gary Gray for the movie. However, the 'Straight Outta Compton' filmmaker may have chosen cars over superheroes by sticking with his 2017 project 'Furious 8.'

The decision to court Ryan Coogler just might be Marvel's best decision so far, since the young filmmaker is still fresh from the success of his Rocky spin-off flick 'Creed.' Before working on the Sylvester Stallone/Michael B. Jordan movie, Coogler had received critical acclaim for his debut film 'Fruitvale Station,' which took home the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize as well as the Audience Award for US dramatic film.

So could Ryan Coogler direct 'Black Panther?' The director and the studios are still in talks but Marvel may need to seal the deal with Coogler, because this looks like the best thing that could happen to Black Panther since vibranium was found in Wakanda.

'Black Panther' will feature Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, who is set to appear in 'Captain America: Civil War.' The first trailer for 'Captain America 3' had shown that Black Panther appears to be chasing Bucky Barnes, since it was previously rumored that The Winter Soldier is responsible for the assassination of T'Challa's father T'Chaka.

'Black Panther' is scheduled for release on July 6, 2018.
