Mnet Asian Music Award 2015 was the venue for International Asian artists to come together and experience a night of glamour and music. Big artists like EXO, BIG BANG, ZION T. where among in attendance. This year was known to be the battle of the boy bands.
These groups vie for some coveted titles. Let's not forget the gorgeous girl groups who took part in the show as well. One of them is South Korean girl group, 2NE1. According to an article in Inquisitor, many Korean fans didn't like the comeback performance that they did during the show.
The group's leader, CL's performance of her newest solo single was among the most anticipated performance of the evening. Kpop fans, especially Blackjacks looked forward to the performance. However, the fans got more than what they asked for.
The performance didn't just offer CL's fierce performance, but it also included the other 3 members of the band, Sandara, Minzi and Bom. This is their first performance together after taking a break for a year.
While international kpop fans were very excited and happy, there was a different reaction with Korean fans. They were reportedly not happy with the groups' comeback during the Awards show. There were many comments posted in Newsen about Bom and her drug situation. In 2014, the singer announced that she went through self-reflection as she trafficked drugs when she was younger. Apparently, one year for self- reflection isn't enough. Many comments read: "What did they do this year to come out? They should be ashamed, they'll be the first and last girl group to do drugs and come out to an awards ceremony...it seems like."
The comments didn't only stop there Bom's past drug situation was just the most used reason to insult 2NE1 at their comeback. Other comments on Koreans nitpicked on CL using too much cosmetics or Minzy and Bom supposedly going through plastic surgery. One person commented that, "She [Bom] said she would self-reflect, but she did plastic surgery... Besides Dara, they were all busy changing their appearance kekekeke. Park Bom and Minzy with plastic surgery and CL with her makeup."
International fans are saddened to see these comments. They would like to clear that the comments posted in Newsen doesn't represent all the kpop fans living in Korea.
