The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for several smartphones such as the Sony Xperia Z5, Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M8 and Moto X Pure Edition are being rolled out, albeit gradually.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the unlocked HTC One M8 handsets is now available, but only in the U.S.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Marshmallow update is expected anytime soon and the Android 6.0 update for the Moto X Pure Edition is now under preps.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 was released in the U.S. following HTC's VP for product management, Mo Versi's, confirmation via Twitter.
As for updates in Europe, according to The International Business Times, famous leakster, LlabTooFeR, said the Android 6.0 update will arrive in two weeks' time.
As for the HTC One M9 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, it is expected at the beginning of 2016, since Phone Arena reported early this year that both the One M8 and the One M9 will receive the updates by the end of 2016. Because of the HTC One M8 Android 6.0 update released on time, the One M9 Marshmallow update for U.S. users is likely early next year.
Meanwhile, the Android 6.0 update for the Galaxy S6 has not yet rolled out. However, according to NDTV, the South Korean giant might soon roll out their updates since screenshots (now removed) (via Sammobile) shared by a Weibo user showed a Galaxy S6 running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based TouchWiz UI. The icons on the smartphone reportedly looked sleeker.
The Galaxy S6's camera seems to have an additional shutter speed control in the Pro mode as well. ISO, exposure, white balance and other settings can reportedly be manipulated too.
A list showing Samsung's Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap was reportedly leaked las month, and in the road map, the Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will take place in January.
As for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto X Pure Edition, it's reportedly in a limited soak test status, which could mean a rollout of the software before the year ends.
According to ZDNet, Motorola Mobility Senior Director David Shuster announced the upcoming software via Google+
"I'm pleased to announce that today we are starting the soak test period of Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) in the US. We will monitor the soak for next week and with good results, proceed to full launch," Shuster said.
Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia Z5 Marshmallow update will reportedly arrive in January
Leaker @Ricciolo1 said as much in a tweet.
Not all Xperia Z5 users can expect an update though, since the company will likely do it gradually like other OEMs, according to Android.gs. Updates on older Xperia models will reportedly "follow shortly."
