Adoption can be a tricky process especially if you're an A-List celebrity. Thoughts about the safety of your child go constantly in your mind. Worry and fear run amok and the end result is a little overprotectiveness.
We can't blame top Hollywood celebrities like Sandra Bullock if they want to prioritize the well-being of their children.
It's only been a couple of days since she released news that she processed another adoption for a little girl named Laila, 3.
Laila is another addition to Bullock's family. She already had Louis, 5, and now a charming little girl.
In an interview with People, she gave us details as to why she chose to keep the latest adoption a secret until now.
"You feel it's very much like witness protection," the award-winning actress explained to People in keeping everything under the radar.
The actress had been fostering Laila for quite some time. She was worried that if it was revealed prematurely, there was a possibility that the adoption won't be finalized. She feared that her fame might threaten the entire process.
"Unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us," Bullock. "The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers -- having them, begging them to keep her safe."
This incident prompts the Oscar winner to make the most secure environment for her children as much as possible.
"Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances - and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job," she said to People.
