The Bad Blood singer is a giver. Previously, Taylor Swift donated $50,000 to fans battling cancer. She also provided a $15,000 charitable contribution to a family affected by a tragic car accident. Recently, she opened up her purse and shelled out $50,000 to the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.
On Thursday, according to the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Swift managed to send a letter to explain why she gifted fifty grand to the group because the recording composition they did of John Luther Adam's "Become Ocean" reminded her of when she was young and how she would go to the local symphony with her grandmother.
Become Ocean was the piece the Symphony showcased at Carnegie Hall for the Spring for Music Festival.
In response to her charity and as a sign of thanks, music director Ludovic Morlot produced a video saying "We are so lucky you love Become Ocean as much as we do, and we'd like to thank you for supporting our incredible Seattle Symphony Orchestra musicians and all the work we do with thousands of students through our educational programs." He goes on to add that her contribution means a lot to the group.
Morlot describes the musical piece as powerful with a unique soundscape. The composition didn't just win Taylor Swift's heart, it also won a 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Music.
The money will go to the symphony's elementary school music program called Link Up and towards its musicians' pension, according to reports.
The pop-country singer is known for her philanthropy to her fans, disaster relief, education, local hometown and school.
"We're especially thankful that she wishes to support our musicians," Morlot expressed, "and that she shares our belief that all people should be able to experience symphonic music."
Good on you, Swifty. This is probably one of the better gifts to give this Holiday Season, in the name of music.
