It has been said that it was only after breaking up with a boyfriend that the American singer and fashion designer Gwen Stefani found out she could write songs. Little did Gwen Stefani know, though, that someday divorcing a partner in life would fire up that similar creative spark in her musical creation process.
Gwen Stefani said on the American syndicated weekday radio program - Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show, "I'm just a regular girl," "However, what I'm saying is when my boyfriend leaves me, you know, who I thought was the love of my life, I just wrote songs. I started writing songs, I didn't even know I could write a song! And all of a sudden I became stronger and more confident, like it became like a wake up call! This is my gift, and that's crazy for the reason that now I'm doing it again and I hadn't done it in a long time. I hadn't been able to write songs in a long time."
The 46 year old lead singer of the American rock band No Doubt, had difficulty with the writing process prior to the end of her marriage with, the lead singer of the rock band Bush, Gavin Rossdale.
Gwen Stefani said that she went into the studio, and everybody there knows pretty much what happened to her - she got a divorce which completely was not in her masterplan at all. Gwen Stefani said that during that time she wanted to go in the studio and write songs and she had a plan to make a record.
Gwen Stefani went on saying, that she was "completely certain that I had to make something out of the situation" "I proceed to the studio and started writing songs." "Well, I wrote my first track and it was like a little rosebud just blossoming, and I was like, 'Wow! It's happening I can do this!' I know that every time I go into the studio I'm going to compose a track and it's the most unbelievable feeling."
