UFC 189: Conor McGregor Promised Not To Strike Jose Aldo in the Body

The mixed martial artist from Ireland, who currently competes in the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) - Conor McGregor, asserts that he placed a call to the Brazilian mixed martial artist - Jose Aldo, shortly after hearing reports of Aldo's fight-scratching rib injury before the Ultimate Fighting Championship - UFC 189.

The current UFC Interim Featherweight Champion stated during a teleconference in support of his title unifier against Jose Aldo at UFC 194, "I called Jose Aldo when he injured his rib. I said, 'Show up, and I won't target your body.' I said that to Jose Aldo. 'I won't hit you to the body - I'll hit you clean in the face.' Jose Aldo still didn't arrive."

However, the issue doesn't ring a bell for Jose Aldo, who was relatively kept under control with the popular Conor McGregor, unlike during the world tour when Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor repeatedly clashed during photo face-offs.

Jose Aldo with a stunning record of 25-1 MMA and 7-0 UFC, stated to MMAjunkie through a translator, "Conor McGregor is not going to be able to smack me in the body, anyway. That wasn't the issue. The thing for me was the weight cut with the ribs. Conor McGregor got scared of me when he saw me and why the hell Conor McGregor is going to call me?"

Conor McGregor (former Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight champ) with a gleaming record of 18-2 MMA and 6-0 UFC, is a master of talking up a fight, he even scolded a reporter who asked whether his bold words were an act. However, McGregor feels relatively sure that his promotional efforts won't be locked up when the UFC 194 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on December 12.

Pay-per-view will air the main card of the UFC following preliminaries on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
