Water Can Affect The Taste Of Coffee

Shocking news emerged and shook the restaurant world as it continually circulated through numerous website that 3fe café came up with a new menu. Though the additional item on their menu wasn't really that much of a deal, still it is quite expensive.

As per Grub Street, most customers were not really happy as the new $4 item on the menu is water.

As per the Independent, the main purpose that Colin Harmon, from 3fe came up with the offer is to educate coffee drinkers that water can greatly influence the taste of coffee. Most of his customers would often buy his beans and would brew them at home, but would end up complaining that their brew tasted different.

"If you've a cup of coffee in most places around the city, what you're drinking is 85pc water. And water has a huge impact on how coffee is extracted, and how it tastes. When you grind coffee and mix it with water, lots of different things in the water - calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate - have a huge influence on how the coffee is extracted. Sometimes people will buy a bag of coffee from us to make at home and they'll come back and say it brews really, really badly, and they might blame us. But they might not realise it's the water."

He then added that water taste differently in other parts of the world in which then pointed out that it could greatly affect the taste of coffee as well.

"Water in different parts of the country tastes completely different. We thought, how are we going to find a way to get people thinking about water, and we came up with an idea of water tasting. Its four glasses of water, and 90pc of people will see that the four glasses actually taste completely different."

Though the café still offers free water, but those who would opt to go for the $4 water, their money can go a long way. As per the website all proceeds would be donated to Zoe. It is a charity wherein they would provide clean water for the people in Africa.
