#SyriaVote Result In Effect: 397- 223 MPs Voted in Favor of Launching Air Strikes on Syria

The votes have taken into effect. As of 22:32 GMT British MPs with 397 votes to 223, a 174 majority voted in favour of launching air strikes against ISIS in Syria, after a heated 10-hour Commons debate, BBC UK reports.

Sixty six (66) labour MPs took the side of the British government as Prime Minister David Cameron secured the Commons majority. Cameron stated that they had "taken the right decision to keep the country safe" the opposing party did not concur saying, the move was a mistake.

Foreign secretary Hilary Benn was applauded across the House as he urged his own side to "confront this evil" posed by Islamic State that "held our democracy in contempt."

In a report by The Guardian, Tornado pilot and station commander Captain Richard Davies said: "We have aircrafts at a readiness state so they are prepared and ready to deploy."

After the votes were announced, four tornado jets took off from RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus although the destination of the jets has not been confirmed.

As of 04:13 GMT, A government source said that "a strike was made on Syria" as jets are onto their "first air strikes" on Syrian territory, Reuters reports.

According to Jonathan Beale, BBC defence correspondent, the Tornados had left RAF Akrotiri with three 500lb Paveway bombs each and flew back to base without the weapons. The Ministry of Defence is expected to announce their targets on Thursday. It "would not be surprising" though if these jets were heading to Syria, BBC political correspondent Robin Brant said. He added that RAF "has been preparing to be involved in these air strikes", alongside the coalition of other Western forces against ISIS in Syria, "for months".

Meanwhile, anti-war protesters staged a 'die-in' protest by lying down on the street outside the parliament after the result of the vote was announced. #SyriaVote
